Arsene Wenger’s side thrashed London rivals West Ham 4-1 in his first match, since announcing that he would be stepping down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season. Here are the Arsenal player ratings.
David Ospina – 6
Came in for Petr Cech. Make a save to deny Marko Arnautovic’s effort in the opening 45 minutes. Had a relatively easy game as he wasn’t tested too much by West Ham.
Hector Bellerin – 5
Put in a decent cross in the first half which Welbeck couldn’t convert. Caught out for West Ham’s equaliser. Hasn’t been at his best this season.
Laurent Koscielny – 6
Looked fairly comfortable until West Ham’s equaliser. Could have put Arsenal in front early on but his header went wide.
Shkodran Mustafi – 5
Made an excellent tackle to deny Arnautovic in the first half but overall his defending was questionable. Should be worried about whether he will still be around next season.
Nacho Monreal – 7
One of Arsenal’s best and most consistent players this season. Scored yet another goal and was solid at the back. Should win Arsenal’s Player of the Season award.
Mohamed Elneny – 6
Has been one of Arsenal’s best players in recent weeks. Stretchered off in the first half. Hopefully, he will still be able to go to the World Cup with Egypt.
Granit Xhaka – 7
Been putting in some excellent performances lately and did so again today. Contributed well to Arsenal’s attacking play.
Aaron Ramsey – 7
Not at his best but was still involved in the victory. Scored the crucial second goal which started the rout.
Alex Iwobi – 3
Should count himself lucky if he’s at Arsenal next season. Another awful performance and no surprise that the game changed for the better when he went off.
Danny Welbeck – 7
Gave it his all, as he usually does, but missed a fair few decent chances. Could have got on the scoresheet had it not been for a fine save from Joe Hart.
Alexandre Lacazette – 7
Continually made runs in behind that weren’t acknowledged by his team-mates. Seemed like it would be a frustrating afternoon until he bagged a brace late on. Will give him much needed confidence ahead of the game against Atletico Madrid.
