Everton’s start to the season has been terribly underwhelming to say the least. The Toffees spent £140m in the summer but are yet to see the benefits. They have just eight points from eight games, their worst start to a Premier League campaign in nine years, and are currently 15th in the table.
Their last result was a draw in the last minute against Brighton thanks to Wayne Rooney’s penalty. Before that, they lost 1-0 at home to Burnley.
Arsenal were doing fairly well (W3,D1) before their recent 2-1 defeat against Watford brought them back to square one for the umpteenth time. The Gunners need to get back to winning ways and this should be the perfect match to do that.
Ronald Koeman confirmed that Morgan Schneiderlin and James McCarthy are available for the match against Arsenal. Phil Jagielka, Leighton Baines and Wayne Rooney, who were rested for the Europa League defeat against Lyon, will be involved against the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger has said that “Alexis, Koscielny and Ramsey will be alright.” Danny Welbeck is out with a groin problem and will not be back before the international break. David Ospina has a groin problem as well and is out for a couple of weeks. Calum Chambers is also out of action.
Everton need a huge win to get their season started and this would be a great opportunity, especially at Goodison Park. Even though Arsenal have a habit of losing to teams when they are on bad runs, I think they will overcome Everton. My prediction is Everton 1-3 Arsenal.
